Preparing Virgin Islanders for Careers of the Future

The S.P.A.R.K. Initiative is a collaborative program by the University of the Virgin Islands(UVI), the UVI Research and Technology Park (UVI RTPark), the UVI Caribbean GreenTechnology Center (CGTC), the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority, and the Virgin Islands Energy Office. The goal of S.P.A.R.K is to build a more resilient energy future, and prepare the local workforce for careers in advanced energy technologies.

Why S.P.A.R.K. Matters

The U.S. Virgin Islands faces economic disparities and high vulnerability to climate disasters.Following Hurricanes Irma and Maria, it became clear that in rebuilding we must prioritize resiliency. S.P.A.R.K. addresses these challenges by equipping a local, skilled workforce with the tools to support resilient infrastructure development and long-term recovery.
